Jack Mount

John Joseph Mount “Jack,” age 80, of West Orange, formerly of Caldwell and Winfield Park, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 10, 2021, surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue Caldwell, on Friday, January 15. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Jack, who lived in Livingston for most of his adult life, spent his youth in Caldwell, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1958, where he was a three sportAll State/County player in football, baseball and basketball. Although drafted by the Milwaukee Braves, he decided to continue his football career at Villanova University, where he participated in the 1961 Sun Bowl. In 1964, he went on to play defensive end for the New York Giants before an injury cut short his career. Jack then briefly served in the Army before moving onto a successful sales career at the New Jersey Bell Yellow Pages, where he worked for 25 years. In his retirement, he enjoyed his time playing golf, exercising at the Livingston oval and spending time with his children and four grandchildren. Jack was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Kristine Marie Wells; his parents, John Andrew and Margaret “Peg” Scanlon Mount; and his siblings, Thomas and Daniel Mount and Eileen Cuniff. Jack is survived by his devoted children, John William “Jack” Mount, DeborahAnn Brien, and William Joseph Mount and his wife, Semira Kashi Mount; and his loving grandchildren, Kayla, Kevin, Sophia, and Olivia. He is also survived by his dear brother, Robert Mount, and sister Rita Wehmeyer. Additionally, Jack is survived by the mother of his children, Marilyn Mount. In lieu of flowers, donations to Immaculate Conception High School, 33 Cottage Place, Montclair, New Jersey, 07042, would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements are under the direction of Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston. ...
