Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) has put out a request for those residents who have been participating in its “Personal Shopping/Shipping for the Homeless” initiative to include shopping for infant items. “I’m asking generous Livingston neighbors to ‘Personal Shop’ for the babies,” said Jeff Friedman, LPI founder and director. “Although we don’t generally think of them when we picture homeless people, there are many, many babies and children living below the poverty line.” On behalf of LPI’s Newark distribution partners, the Bessie Green Community (BGC), Newark Emergency Services for Families, (NESF) and the Willing Heart Community Care Center (WHCCC), Friedman is specifically requesting diapers and baby wipes.  “Diapers are badly needed and are always a frequent request,” said Amina Bey, executive director at NESF. Monique Kelly, food pantry and “clothing closet” manager at BGC, agreed. “Diapers and wipes for our babies are always in demand and appreciated,” she commented. At WHCCC on the other side of town, Lisa Cherokee Raine Booker runs the baby department at its Clothing Boutique. “I thank Livingston Philanthropies for all they do,” Booker said. “I’m putting together infant bags with Livingston donations. Diapers in all sizes and wipes are a blessing.” Noted Friedman, “It’s quick and easy to shop for diapers and wipes online. Livingston ShopRite and the Route 10 box stores have big stocks, too, for those venturing out.” Baby items may be dropped at “LPI World Headquarters” (Friedman’s garage); shipped to his home; or shipped directly to BGC, NESF or WHCCC.
