Coat Drive Welcomes New Volunteers

Article Image Alt Text

Things have been busy at the Livingston Philanthropies, reports founder and director Jeff “The Coat Guy” Friedman. “Civic organizations and schools are stepping up in a major way, and we’ll be announcing some big donations in future editions of the West Essex Tribune,” he says. “In addition, I spoke at the Livingston Kiwanis Club recently, and the members made a very generous donation of Burlington Coat Factory gift cards. We plan to find the best sales to maximize impact of the cards.”
During his Kiwanis presentation, Friedman had mentioned a donation of lip balms, which he and fellow volunteers had just given out to soup kitchen clients. “The gentleman who donated the hundreds of lip balms happens to be a Kiwanis board member, and was present during my talk,” recounts Friedman. “I mentioned our distribution of his items, and he was thrilled. He plans to get us more cool stuff to give to the poor, homeless and disenfranchised.”
