Visitation will be held today, Thursday, May 18, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston for Richard Carmody, who died on Monday, May 15. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, May 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Philomena’s Church. Mr. Carmody was 58 years old. Born and raised in Riverdale, Bronx, New York City, Mr. Carmody resided in Livingston for the last 18 years. He was a management analyst for the U.S. District Court in Newark, retiring after 30 years. Mr. Carmody is survived by his wife of 32 years, Alice; his son, Richard Jr.; brother, Kevin, and his wife, Nicole; his sister, Suzette Gannon, and her husband, Jimmy; and his sister, Jeannine Carmody. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Villa Marie Claire, 12 West Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458.

Clarine Choyke Rabinow, 96, passed away peacefully, following a brief and difficult journey on May 10, 2017 at the Teresian House, Albany, NY. She is survived by her loving husband, “Stan” (Stanley) of 71 years; son Mark and his wife Nan; greatly beloved granddaughters Sarah, Laura, and her partner David Bissember; and predeceased by her son, John. She was surrounded by family during the last months of her life. “Claire” received her B.A. from Hunter College, and an M.A. in remedial reading, and a Learning Disabilities Teacher/Consultant certificate. She worked in the South Orange-Maplewood School District for more than 30 years before retiring. Claire and Stan resided for more than 62 years in Livingston, prior to moving to the Avila in Albany, New York to be closer to family. She was a gifted artist and active member of the Livingston community, holding positions on the Livingston Arts Association and Livingston League of Women voters as well as the Livingston Democratic Party.

Dorismae Pecht, (neé Heim), age 94, of Livingston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday, May 11, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Philomena’s Church on Tuesday, May 16. The family received friends at Quinn- Hopping Funeral Home in Livingston on Monday, May 15. Dorismae was raised in Maplewood before moving to Livingston in 1950. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a business woman, who, with her late husband Richard A. Pecht, owned and operated Pecht’s Bakery in Livingston and Pecht’s Short Hills Bakery. A woman of many talents, she was an artist and danced in many ballet performances. As a child she danced on Broadway in the Monte Carlo Russian Ballet at the St. James Theater. After finishing college, she worked as a draftsman for Bell Labs. Later she was an interior designer with the Edwin A.

A memorial service was held for Robert H. (Bucky) Rogers on Wednesday, May 17, at the Federated Church of Livingston. Mr. Rogers, 89, died on May 12. Son of the late John and Josephine (Allman) Rogers, Mr. Rogers was raised in Nutley and Livingston. He was a World War II Army veteran, and worked at the Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Bloomfield before retiring. A past commander of American Legion Post 201 of Livingston, Mr. Rogers served as Grand Marshal of the Livingston Memorial Day Parade in 2009. He was also a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Livingston. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife of 64 years, Florence (neé Bevensee); two daughters, Jennifer Adkins and Roberta Roselle, and their husbands, Gary Adkins and Daniel Roselle; and four grandchildren, Jon, Matthew, Danimarie and Michele. He was predeceased by his brother, John Rogers, and sister, Annetta Altvater.

Wendy Irene Barrett, age 59, of Noblesville, Indiana, formerly of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 South Livingston Avenue on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park East Hanover, New Jersey. The family will receive their friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey, on Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wendy was an accomplished artist, painter and poet. She worked with oils, pastels, sculpture and mixed media. She was a hockey coach at IYHA. An animal lover and rescuer, Wendy was also a trainer and handler of Yorkies. Wendy is survived by her beloved sons, John and Chris Barrett, and their father, Thomas Barrett; her loving mother, Irene Burns; and her dear brother, Douglas, and his wife, Eileen Stout.

Alpheus J. Norman III died on May 2 at 88 years of age. The former Livingston resident, who moved to Normandy Beach 27 years ago, had owned and operated Norman Florist, Inc. in East Orange and Livingston. Funeral arrangements were by the Timothy E. Ryan Home in Toms River. Born in Irvington, Mr. Norman was a 1946 graduate of East Orange High School and Montclair Academy, and attended the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Norman was predeceased by his brother, Robert A. Norman. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Norman. He is also survived by his four children, Alpheus J. Norman IV and his wife, Jeneene; Gary C. Norman and his wife, Linda; Mark P. Norman; and Nancy A. Norman; four grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Audrey Norman. Al Attermann, 92, of Livingston, died on Wednesday, May 3. Born in Colon, Germany, he came to the United States in 1938. He was graduated from Westside High School and the Newark College of Engineering. He was the proprietor of A & S Atterman Inc. in Newark. While serving in the Army during World War II, Mr. Attermann was wounded in the Philippines and received a Purple Heart. Mr. Attermann was a past president of Sinai Congregation in Hillside and of the Hillside Board of Education. Surviving is his wife, Lorraine Attermann. He is also survived by his children, Howard Attermann and his wife, Donna; Bruce Attermann and his wife, Elise; Jill Montag and her husband, Stephen; and Robert Attermann and his wife, Jill; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Septee. He was predeceased by his brother, Simon Attermann. Funeral services were arranged by the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston.

Frank Colletti, 88, of Livingston died on Tuesday, May 2. A self-employed general contractor, Mr. Colletti is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Kaufman Colletti; his children, Jack Dinetz (Jamie), Gaye Collins (Neil) and Greg Dinetz (Wendy); three grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Anzelone. Louis E. Guida Sr. of Morris Plains, New Jersey, formerly of Livingston, New Jersey passed peacefully on May 7, 2017. He was 90 years old. He was the beloved husband of Angela Marie; the loving father of Louis (Mary Ellen); the cherished grandfather of Louis III (fiancée Christina Markadakis), Jacquelyn, Joseph, and Mary Elizabeth. He was also the adored brother of the late Angelina (the late Gorden) Hoover; the late Pasqualino (Michelina “Mickey”) Guida; and the late Joseph (the late Rose) Guida. Mr. Guida is reposing at Branch Funeral Home, 190 East Main Street, Smithtown, New York. Visitation will take place Thursday, May 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Smithtown, New York. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey.

Funeral services for Valerie Albert (neé Neslan), a former resident of Livingston, were held on May 6. Mrs. Albert died on April 25 at Care One in Morristown. Funeral Arrangements were by S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service in Lake Hiawatha. Born in England, Mrs. Albert immigrated to the United States over 50 years ago and lived in Livingston, Caldwell and Parsippany. Mrs. Albert worked in the Parsippany High School cafeteria and as a school crossing guard. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Albert, and two brothers, Ronald and Barry Neslan. She is survived by her children, Joseph Albert and his wife, Terri, of Australia; Shane Albert and his wife, Tammie, of Florida; and Toni Albert of Parsippany. He is also survived by a sister, Carol Brown; and three grandchildren.
