Wendy Irene Barrett

Wendy Irene Barrett, age 59, of Noblesville, Indiana, formerly of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philomena’s Church, 386 South Livingston Avenue on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park East Hanover, New Jersey. The family will receive their friends at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston, New Jersey, on Thursday, May 11, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. Wendy was an accomplished artist, painter and poet. She worked with oils, pastels, sculpture and mixed media. She was a hockey coach at IYHA. An animal lover and rescuer, Wendy was also a trainer and handler of Yorkies. Wendy is survived by her beloved sons, John and Chris Barrett, and their father, Thomas Barrett; her loving mother, Irene Burns; and her dear brother, Douglas, and his wife, Eileen Stout.

Funeral Services Held For Alpheus Norman III

Alpheus J. Norman III died on May 2 at 88 years of age. The former Livingston resident, who moved to Normandy Beach 27 years ago, had owned and operated Norman Florist, Inc. in East Orange and Livingston. Funeral arrangements were by the Timothy E. Ryan Home in Toms River. Born in Irvington, Mr. Norman was a 1946 graduate of East Orange High School and Montclair Academy, and attended the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Norman was predeceased by his brother, Robert A. Norman. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Norman. He is also survived by his four children, Alpheus J. Norman IV and his wife, Jeneene; Gary C. Norman and his wife, Linda; Mark P. Norman; and Nancy A. Norman; four grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Audrey Norman. Hold Funeral Services For Al Attermann, 92

Al Attermann, 92, of Livingston, died on Wednesday, May 3. Born in Colon, Germany, he came to the United States in 1938. He was graduated from Westside High School and the Newark College of Engineering. He was the proprietor of A & S Atterman Inc. in Newark. While serving in the Army during World War II, Mr. Attermann was wounded in the Philippines and received a Purple Heart. Mr. Attermann was a past president of Sinai Congregation in Hillside and of the Hillside Board of Education. Surviving is his wife, Lorraine Attermann. He is also survived by his children, Howard Attermann and his wife, Donna; Bruce Attermann and his wife, Elise; Jill Montag and her husband, Stephen; and Robert Attermann and his wife, Jill; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ruth Septee. He was predeceased by his brother, Simon Attermann. Funeral services were arranged by the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston.

Frank Colletti Dies

Frank Colletti, 88, of Livingston died on Tuesday, May 2. A self-employed general contractor, Mr. Colletti is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joyce Kaufman Colletti; his children, Jack Dinetz (Jamie), Gaye Collins (Neil) and Greg Dinetz (Wendy); three grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor Anzelone. Louis E. Guida Sr.

Louis E. Guida Sr. of Morris Plains, New Jersey, formerly of Livingston, New Jersey passed peacefully on May 7, 2017. He was 90 years old. He was the beloved husband of Angela Marie; the loving father of Louis (Mary Ellen); the cherished grandfather of Louis III (fiancée Christina Markadakis), Jacquelyn, Joseph, and Mary Elizabeth. He was also the adored brother of the late Angelina (the late Gorden) Hoover; the late Pasqualino (Michelina “Mickey”) Guida; and the late Joseph (the late Rose) Guida. Mr. Guida is reposing at Branch Funeral Home, 190 East Main Street, Smithtown, New York. Visitation will take place Thursday, May 11, from 7 to 9 p.m., and Friday, May 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Smithtown, New York. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey.

Services Were Held For Valerie Albert, 75

Funeral services for Valerie Albert (neé Neslan), a former resident of Livingston, were held on May 6. Mrs. Albert died on April 25 at Care One in Morristown. Funeral Arrangements were by S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service in Lake Hiawatha. Born in England, Mrs. Albert immigrated to the United States over 50 years ago and lived in Livingston, Caldwell and Parsippany. Mrs. Albert worked in the Parsippany High School cafeteria and as a school crossing guard. She was predeceased by her husband, William A. Albert, and two brothers, Ronald and Barry Neslan. She is survived by her children, Joseph Albert and his wife, Terri, of Australia; Shane Albert and his wife, Tammie, of Florida; and Toni Albert of Parsippany. He is also survived by a sister, Carol Brown; and three grandchildren.

Funeral Held April 29 For Sebastian Messina

Sebastian J. Messina of Roseland, formerly of Livingston, died Tuesday, April 25, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Newton.He was 86 years old. Funeral arrangements were by LaMonica Memorial Home of Livingston. Born and raised in Bloomfield, where he lived for many years, Mr. Messina moved to Livingston in 2002, and then to Roseland in 2010. He was a professor of photography at Middlesex County College in Raritan for 25 years, retiring many years ago. He served in the Marines during the Korean War, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3533 and the Old Guard, both in Livingston. He is survived by his children, Joseph Jay and his wife, MaryAnn; Bruce Allen and his wife, Carol; Sebastian Jr. and his wife, Lynn; and Jaime Marie Messina; his sister, Mary Sole; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Wounded Warriors.

Martin Cohn

Martin Cohn was born in Newark, New Jersey on April 29, 1935 and died peacefully on April 21, 2017 in Rancho Mirage, California. Marty was a graduate of Columbia High School and Ohio University. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Japan, where he headed a mobile air traffic control unit, enabling him to travel to many countries in the Far East. After leaving the service, Marty married Judy, the love of his life. They were married for 57 years. They moved to Livingston, New Jersey in 1965, where they raised their two wonderful children. Marty had a successful career in real estate, first as a broker with the Archie Schwartz Company and then as an executive with Vornado Realty Trust. He was a member of NACORE (National Association of Corporate Real Estate Executives); President of NAIOP (the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties), where he was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award; and President of the Maplewood Country Club.

Services Were Held For Seymour Reich

Seymour Reich, 92, died on April 12. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he lived in Livingston for 40 years before moving to Montville. Funeral arrangements were by Bernheim- Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel of Livingston. Mr. Reich earned his undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute and his master's degree from Newark College of Engineering. After retiring from RCA, he worked at Rutgers University. He was a World War II veteran who served in active duty in the Navy. Mr. Reich is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce; three daughters, Ronda (Stephen) of Livingston; Robin (Bill) of Montville; and Ruth of Randolph; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services Held For Fred P. Grecco, 73

Fred P. Grecco of Livingston died on April 22. Born in Newark and raised in Irvington, Mr. Grecco earned a bachelor’s degree in math from Bucknell University. Funeral arrangments were by Paul Ippolito-Dancy Memorial in Caldwell. Mr. Grecco was a decorated Army veteran who served with the 199th Infantry Brigade from 1967 to 1970. After his honorable discharge, Mr. Grecco worked for Leslie Edelman Inc. of New Jersey and then served as caregiver to his parents, the late Fred and Buta Grecco. He is survived by his sister, Susan Grecco. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl. Memphis, TN, 38105.
