Lady Lancers Open Winter Track Season With Solid Showings at Holiday Invitational

The Livingston track program traveled north for the two-day Holiday Classic Invitational meet at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Rothman Center.

The track portion was held on Saturday, December 16, and was followed by the throwing, jumping and vaulting events on Sunday, December 17. About 30 teams participated in the various track and field contests.

Holds Annual Football Program Banquet

HOLDS ANNUAL FOOTBALL PROGRAM BANQUET: The Livingston High School Football Parents’ Association recently honored the players, coaches and supporters of the Lancer Football Program. The annual banquet was held on Sunday, December 3, at the Hanover Manor. Coaches introduced each of the players and highlighted their season accomplishments. Each underclassman received a gift, while seniors were each presented with a framed uniform and portrait poster. The players, in turn, presented each coach with an appreciation gift.

Livingston Dodgers Play in World Series

The Livingston Dodgers U.S. Over Thirty Baseball League team finished its 2017 season with an appearance in the Roy Hobbs World Series, played in Fort Myers, Florida. The tournament, now in its 29th year, saw more than 230 teams competing. The Dodgers entered two teams during two consecutive weeks. In week one, Livingston defeated last year’s defending champions, the Minnesota Bees, 9-5, behind the pitching of Ray Carella, a former Cleveland Indians farm team pitcher.

Marathon Men

MARATHON MEN: On Sunday, November 5, Livingston residents Pete Greenberg and Rob Stecklow completed the New York City Marathon, the first marathon either had ever entered. They finished the 26.2 mile race in four hours, 31 minutes.

Breaks Swim Record

Maura Mullaney of Livingston, a member of the swimming and diving team at the College of the Holy Cross, broke the school record in the 200 yard butterfly at the Harold Anderson Invitational. The meet was held November 17 to 18 in the Tootell Aquatics Complex at the University of Rhode Island.

Placing second in the event overall, Mullaney hit the wall at 2:07.00, besting the previous Holy Cross record of 209.33 set in 2010.

Wins Championship

WINS CHAMPIONSHIP: Recently, the Livingston Stealth - White fall baseball team won the USABL 9U Central North Division Championship. The team won three playoff games to capture the title, including an exciting 18-12 come-from-behind win in the finals. The team was down, 11-6, and scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fifth to capture the win. The Stealth finished the fall season with a 9-3 overall record.
