Coat Drive Going Well; Donations Remain Steady

The fourth annual Livingston Coat Drive is going well, organizer Jeff Friedman of Livingston reported this week. "Coats and accessories are coming in fast," he noted. "Which is great, because really, this is just the beginning. Despite the unusually warm days earlier this week, winter is truly here, and it's going to last a while. So, please – keep those coats coming!"
Recently, the Coat Guy and Coat Drive "Dream Team" volunteer Candi Samansky delivered a huge pile of coats to OAR, the prisoner re-entry agency in Newark.

Coat Drive Organizers Announce Immediate Need for Donations of Coats, Hats, Gloves

With snow and cold weather predicted for this week, the fourth annual Livingston Coat Drive has announced there is an immediate need for donations of winter coats and accessories for the needy.
The Coat Drive is being conducted in partnership with the West Essex Tribune, which serves as a drop-off point for donations.
Livingston resident Jeff "The Coat Guy" Friedman and his Coat Drive "Dream Team" of volunteers each week deliver donations of gently used and new winter coats, gloves, scarves and hats to a variety of distribution partners in Newark and East Orange. These distribution partners range from social service agencies to churches and soup kitchens. "I want all of our donors to know that the items they donate go immediately to families who are in dire need," Friedman said.

The fourth annual Livingston Coat Drive has gotten off to a successful start, having collected and delivered a total of 360 coats so far.

"Well, the winter weather has arrived, and I think it's a good bet that it's here to stay," said Livingston resident Jeff Friedman, organizer of the Coat Drive. "But thanks to the residents of Livingston and the other towns in which we are collecting, we have been able to provide coats and winter accessories to those who would otherwise have had to somehow manage without. Can you imagine trying to face the winter without a warm coat to wear?"

"We have already made our third delivery of the season to the Dutch Reformed Church in Newark," noted Friedman. "I want all of our donors to know that the items they donate go immediately to families who are in dire need."
