The Edgemere Road Debate

We sympathize with the families living in Hillside Heights, the area of new homes developed around Edgemere Road. Since their homes were built – and up until recently – they had what amounted to a private enclave. But Hillside Heights was not designed to be a private enclave and Edgemere Road is not a private street. It is a municipal roadway – just as almost every other street in our township – maintained by the township for the use of all residents.

Board Passes Tentative School Budget, 4-1; $113,648,771 Spending Plan Sent to County

The Board of Education approved the tentative school district budget for 2015-16 during its March 23 meeting. The budget, while not fi nal, will be submitted to the Essex County superintendent of schools for approval. The total budget for 2015-16, comprised of the general fund, special revenues and debt service, is $113,648,771.

Township Manager Introduces 2015 Municipal Budget; Average Homeowner to See Annual Increase of $95.20

Township manager Michele Meade introduced the 2015 municipal budget at the Township Council meeting on Monday evening. She stated that it meets the goals of providing "quality services at an affordable price while enhancing fiscal stability." A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held at the Council's meeting on May 4.
