Mary Jane Milan Dies in Pennsylvania

Mary Jane Milan died at the age of 96 on June 5 at Oak Leaf Manor North in Landisville, Pennsylvania. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 12, at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral. Born in Lancaster, Pensylvania, Mrs. Milan lived in Livingston before moving back to Pennsylvania. A beautician, she owned her own beauty shop. Predeceased by her husband, Robert L; her son, Geoffrey; and her brother, George E. Brown, Mrs. Milan is survived by her sister, Patricia B. Zeger, and two grandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Humane League of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 2195 Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17602.

Mass on Friday For Kristine Wells

Kristine Marie Mount Wells, 48, died on Sunday, June 7, in Livingston. Visitation will be held today, Thursday, June 11, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston. A funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, June 12, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philomena's Church, Livingston. Born in Montclair, Mrs. Wells was a lifelong resident of Livingston. She had worked as a daycare teacher at Weekday Daycare in Livingston, in the finance industry for JB Hanauer and for Summit Finance, and currently worked as a school aide at Collins School in Livingston. She leaves behind her husband of 16 years, Phil; her parents, John and Marilyn Mount; and her siblings Jack, Bill (Semira), and Debbie. She also leaves behind her brothers-in-law Peter Wells (Annette), Pat Wells (Virginia), and Paul Wells (Cindy) and her motherin- law, Mary Wells. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.

Funeral Services For Samuel Stein

Funeral services were held at Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union on Tuesday, June 9, for Samuel Stein. Mr. Stein died at the age of 89 at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston on Saturday, June 6. Born in Passaic, Mr. Stein resided in Livingston for almost 60 years. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Stein was an executive with ResistoFlex, a manufacturing company specializing in jet engine parts, for 33 years, prior to his retirement in 1988. He was the husband of 63 years to Myra; father of Nancy Blankstein and her husband, Ken; Robert Stein and his wife, Trisha; and grandfather of three.

Tennis Team Advances To Tournament of Champions

The Livingston High School boys' tennis team advanced to the “Tournament of Champions” (TOC) after winning the Group IV State Tennis Championship. Tennis is one of the few sports in New Jersey that holds a Tournament of Champions. The six Group State Champions then compete to crown one overall winner in the Tournament of Champions.

Remember, Recycling's the Law

Recycling is not just a passing fad. It is a necessary requirement for our planet. Those who think that throwing a single soda or water bottle in the garbage is "no big thing," should stop and remember that we live in the most densely populated part of the most densely populated state in the nation. If each person recycled just one soda bottle, it would save acres of landfill. Multiply that one plastic bottle or can by the millions of people living in Essex County and the savings becomes staggering.
