Over the last several years, setting up the Camuso Holiday Display at the Memorial Park Oval has often proven to be a challenge, but this year, the Camuso Committee had to deal with a last minute change that nearly derailed its opening day plans.

Public and Staff Forums Begin Search for New Superintendent

The first steps in the search for a permanent superintendent of schools in Livingston, a series of public and staff forums, are currently underway. James O'Neill, a retired educator who served Livingston as interim superintendent last year, has been hired by the Board of Education to assist with the search and is leading the forums. Input gained from the forums will be used help the Board in its search, O'Neill said.

Hold Private Service For Robert C. Sutton

Robert Cole Sutton of Hackettstown, formerly of Livingston, died November 27 at the age of 67. A private funeral service will be conducted by the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home. Mr. Sutton was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret Sutton. He is survived by his sisters, Judith Jones, Marjorie McSpirit, and Linda Zielke.

Funeral Services Held For Mrs. Claire Gutin

Claire Gutin died Monday, November 23, in Care One at Livingston at the age of 86. Funeral arrangements were by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel. Born in Newark, Mrs. Gutin grew up in East Orange and then lived in West Orange, where she owned Claire's Affairs. She moved to Livingston seven years ago. Mrs. Gutin is survived by her sister Jackie Friedman (Robert). Her son, Jeffrey, predeceased her. The family suggests that donations be made to a Jewish charity of one's choice.

YMCA and Livingston Teens "Share the Love"

"I want teens to understand life in the real world, to expose them to how many people in the world are struggling and how they can make a difference," said Cheryl Francione, associate executive director of the West Essex YMCA. Together, Francione and Livingston resident Joy Bushwell are working to make sure teens "get it."

Teen Tech Tutors Teach

During a recent Friday afternoon at the Livingston Public Library, members of the Techie Teen Tutors Club were available to help residents age 55 and older with their phones, tablets and other portable devices. The Club's founder, Ben Boxer, who has been helping seniors with technology since he was in eighth grade, explained, "They want to know how to use the various devices, how to get connected to their children and grandchildren.

In Memory of Corporal Brennan

The pillars at the front of the Municipal Building were draped in black and purple this week in memory of Livingston Police Corporal William J. Brennan, who died Sunday, November 22. Cpl. Brennan had been with the department since 1979.
