DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED is just one of the charges Wilson Lemon, Jr. of West Orange faces following an accident that took place on West Northfi eld Road on Monday afternoon. Police responded to the area following reports of an overturned vehicle. Upon arrival, Officer Michael Davenport found Lemon's 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe (shown above) in an upright position, but noted that it appeared the vehicle had overturned.

BULLDOGS WIN SUMMER NPGL CHAMPIONSHIP: The 13U boys' baseball team finished the summer season, winning seven of its final eight games. The Livingston Bulldogs completed their 11-5 season with a 12-6 championship win over Berkeley Heights.

One Less Photo to Take

While it is not our favorite part of the job, all Tribune staff members have spent time taking photos of the more serious motor vehicle accidents that occur in the township. You can often find one of us on the outskirts of the chaos snapping pictures that will be used in the upcoming edition of the newspaper. Over the years, one begins to see a pattern of when and where accidents occur.

Town Council Discusses Plans For Traffic Light Installation

At its conference meeting on Monday evening, the Township Council discussed plans to move ahead with the installation of a traffic light at the intersection of East Northfield Road and Chestnut Street. A traffi c study concluded that a light would be appropriate at the intersection and Essex County officials, who must approve any traffic signals on East Northfield Road, agreed.

Residents Voice Suggestions For Strategic Plan

The evolving role of the library, the flow of new technologies, new uses of space, and reaching non-library users were some of the topics voiced by the two dozen residents who attended the community forum at the Livingston Public Library on Wednesday, August 5. Many in the audience were library Board of Trustee members or staff, and active Livingston volunteers. Almost all spoke during the 90-minute session, which was led by Leslie and Alan Burger of Library Development Solutions, the firm hired to create a strategic plan for the library.

Mass This Friday For Ann Kirwan

Ann Kirwan (nee Catallo) died June 30 at the age of 88. A Mass celebrating her life will take place this Friday, August 14, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Florham Park, with interment immediately following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Born January 23, 1927, Mrs. Kirwan grew up in Livingston and then resided for most of her life in Florham Park before moving to Phoenix, Arizona last year. She married Joseph "Bud" Kirwan in 1950; he pre-deceased her in 1992. Mrs. Kirwan is survived by her sons, Mike and his wife, Cindy, and Doug and his wife, Antoinette; and six grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Joanne, in 2010. The family has noted that memorial donations may be made to the Lustgarden Foundation.
