As Temperatures Drop, LPI “Heats Up:” Charity Focusing on Fundraising & “Fur Extravaganza”

Article Image Alt Text

With the turning of the weather, “the temperatures have been dropping, and LPI has been heating up,” noted Jeff “The Coat Guy” Friedman, founder and director of Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI). The Livingston-based charity collects clothing, travel-sized toiletries, new socks, diapers, women’s products, cosmetics, and more to assist the homeless, and runs a seasonal coat drive. Donations may be dropped at the offices of the West Essex Tribune at 495 South Livingston Avenue, next to ShopRite.
Currently, LPI is focusing on two things, said Friedman: an ongoing fundraising campaign to enable the charity to purchase a vehicle; and its upcoming “Fur Extravaganza” sale.
Funds Needed for Vehicle
“A big LPI campaign is underway to fund a vehicle,” Friedman explained. “We are attempting to raise $10,000 during October and early November.”

You Are Our Voters

Inside this edition of the Tribune is the first round of statements submitted by our candidates for Township Council and the Board of Education. We encourage you to read these weekly statements carefully over these next few weeks; hopefully they will help inform your vote on November 5.

And we are sure you will be voting on November 5. We have the research to back it up.

According to a recent study by the National Newspaper Association, newspaper readers are voters, and nobody votes more than readers of community newspapers. The nationwide survey, which is conducted annually by Susquehanna Polling and Research in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, found that 85 percent of community newspaper readers said they are “very likely” to vote in elections later this year and in 2020. Those who don’t read community newspapers polled at 73 percent for the same question.
