A man driving the SUV exchanged expletives with Simmons. Simmons said she continued on her way and sat in her mother’s car.

The male then allegedly began to encourage his female companion to beat up Simmons. The unknown female began banging on the window of the car Simmons was sitting in. Simmons stated she saw her mother walking out of the mall toward the car, and “got out to protect her mother as she approached.”
