Varsity Bowling Team Scores Three Wins

The Lancer Bowling team played West Caldwell Vo-Tech in its first match of 2024, according to coach Griff Hughes. The Lancers struggled with spares, but managed to win 814 pins to the Eagles 712. Leading the team was Parker Shulman’s 186 and Rishab Sinha’s 171.

West Caldwell took the second game, with Davion Thomas’ 231 helping to hand LHS a 881-810 loss. Gabe Shulman posted a 185. In the third game, Parker Shulman hit his mark and scored a 202 with additional support from Victoria Cheng’s 173. LHS won 881-824 to give the Lancers a 5-2 win.

The Lancers next opponent was Millburn. Earlier this season, the Millers lost to Livingston by a score of 5-2. In this contest, Parker Shulman’s 197, 226 and 191 led all bowlers with his first 600 series of the season (614). His brother, Gabriel, contributed a 221 and Sinha scored a 202 as the Lancers won the three games, sweeping Millburn 7-0.

BUSY WRESTLING WEEK: The Livingston High School wrestling team had a busy week. On Wednesday, January 3, the Lancers were defeated by Seton Hall Prep, 61-12. On Friday, January 5, they lost to West Essex, 48-8. During its quad meet on Saturday, January 6, the Lancer wrestling team defeated Newark Collegiate, 65-17; Lyndhurst, 52-23; and Glen Ridge, 54-25. Bowling Team Defeats Millburn; Celebrates Coach’s 300th Victory

On Thursday, December 14, the Livingston High School bowling team defeated Millbum. Bowling coach Griff Hughes also won his 300th career match that day.

The team started off with captain Rishabh Sinha’s 192 bowling score. Captain Gabe Shulman scored a 215, and Victoria Cheng’s 175 helped the team to a 868-792 pin victory.

During the second game, the Lancers struggled with spares, but managed a 780-737 win behind Aidan Reyes’ 180 bowl. The Lancers unfortunately did not win game three, and were defeated 819-763, but won the overall match 5 -2. Parker Shulman rolled a 147 in the loss.

On the junior varsity lanes, the Lancers were defeated by Millbum. Lancer Abhiman Chandin scored a 71, 88, and 106, while Douglas Coppola bowled a 100,92, and 113.

Sungi Shariff’s 155 was the high score of the game for the Lancers, and Prakhar Samaiya’s scores of 125, 154, and 117 earned him the high series of 396.
