Town Council Terminates Township Manager

In a special meeting held today at 3 p.m., the Livingston Township Council, by a 4-1 vote, memorialized a recently passed resolution, pursuant to statute, to terminate township manager, Michele Meade. Councilman Rudy Fernandez was the sole “no” vote.Councilman Ed Meinhardt was present via conference call. The resolution lists specific reasons for the termination including “her failure to timely keep the Council informed as to issues concerning the Township; her prioritization of budget items based on her preferences rather than the preferences of the Council; her lack of responsiveness to Township residents; her failure to effectively pursue shared service agreements with other communities; and her failure to effectively manage the Township’s employees.” According to a press release issued by the Township, “The Town Council, on behalf of the entire town and its employees, wishes to express its gratitude to Michele for her hard work over these past 11 years and look forward to working with her during this transition period. “The Council is diligently moving forward with plans to hire a consultant who will assist in the search process for our next town manager."
