Mass Was Held For Mary Saul

Mary Saul (née Carpenter), a former longtime resident of Livingston, died at her home on Sunday February 27. She was 96 years old.

Mrs. Saul was born in Hackensack to Mary and Michael Carpenter, and raised in Westwood and Hillsdale. She lived in Rochester, New York; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Milwaukee, Wisconsin before settling in Livingston, where she lived for 47 years before moving to East Hanover.

Mrs. Saul was a member of the Music Ministry at St. Philomena’s Parish in Livingston, which performed for Pope John Paul II, and of the Newark Archdiocesan Festival Choir.

Pre-deceased by her husband of 72 years, Frank “Pep” Saul, and her brother, John, Mrs. Saul is survived by her children: Frank (Sally), Mary Jane Gruppuso, Michael (Jessica), Dr. Pat Saul (Jed Rosen), Elizabeth (Richard) Fleet, Daniel (Loretta), Meg (Daniel) Prosicki, and Gerald (Tricia); 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Patricia Lawler, Kathryn (Ben) Quinn, and Michael Carpenter (Carolyn). A funeral Mass was celebrated on

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, March 5, at St. Philomena Church.

Under state law, bicycles must follow the same traffic regulations as cars, including driving on the right-hand side of the road, stopping at stop signs, and signaling turns; red and white lights, not reflectors, are required for use after dusk.
