Barbara Hoffman

Beloved Barbara Jean Schapiro Hoffman, 84, of Livingston, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at home on March 18, 2022.

Barbara was born in Newark, NJ and attended Columbia High School and Syracuse University.

She is survived by Eli Hoffman, her husband of 49 years, and her three sons, William Berman (Julie), David Berman, James Berman, and by six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Robert, Abigail, Isaac, Arabella and Edward. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Belle and Max Schapiro.

Barbara was a true lover of the arts and classical music. She was active in the Burnet Hill Elementary School, the Kildonan School for Dyslexic students, and was the 20-year Chair of her beloved New Jersey Tap Ensemble. Not only was she deeply involved in these initiatives, she was an accomplished pianist as well as tap dancer.

In addition to her family, she had a deep love for her many Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at Oheb Shalom Cemetery, Hillside, New Jersey, with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union, New Jersey.
