Joel Cohen

Joel Cohen, 87, of Livingston, New Jersey, died March 22, 2022. He was born in Newark, New Jersey.

He was the beloved husband of 58 years of Sally Diamond Cohen, of Bayonne, New Jersey, and retired in 1996 from his job as an organic chemist at Ciba Geigy, now Novartis.

An active member of the Synagogue of Suburban Torah Center, Joel was active in many local charities and served the New Jersey Deaf and Jewish Deaf communities in various capacities. He was the treasurer of the Jewish Deaf and Hearing Impaired Council for over 25 years.

Joel was an avid golfer and a learned man with a wide range of interests, talents and hobbies.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally Cohen; his sister, Marcia Solomon; and his three children: Daniel Cohen, David (Gila) Cohen, and Rinah (Michael) Benoliel. He is also survived by eight

He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Shifra (Marshal) Grobois, Zachary Cohen, Steven Cohen (Chana), Sarah (Ephraim) Poloner, Max Cohen, Alexander Benoliel, Anna Benoliel, and Joseph Benoliel; and one greatgrandchild, Aubrey Grobois.
