Ward Hastings Anthony

A private memorial service was held for Ward Hastings Anthony who died on December 16, 2021. He was 83 years old and a lifelong resident of Livingston.

Ward’s surviving family includes Bernice, his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years; his children, Ward Jr. (Allison), Brad (Caryn), Susan Turner (Andy), and Christine Scerbo (Joe, deceased); and his grandchildren, Laura, Thomas, Jessica, Robbie (deceased), William, Joseph, Ben, Gillian, and Holly.

Ward graduated from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania and began his career at New York Life Insurance Company in Manhattan. He was their Senior Contract Analyst until he retired in 2001. Ward was an avid gardener who

Ward was an avid gardener who annually donated fresh produce to the Market Street Mission in Morristown. He was a Trustee and a generous supporter of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra and, since the 1960s, a familiar face at all of the concerts, where his wife Bernice performed. He was also a Trustee for the Friends of the Shakers at Sabbath Day Lake, Maine.

Ward enjoyed Windjammer cruises off the coast of Maine, travels to Europe, and treasured his time spent with family at their summer house at the Jersey shore.

Ward was a kindhearted gentleman who was the spirit and strength of his family.
