Vincent Russo

Vincent Russo, 82, of Livingston, passed away peacefully at home on December 17, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born November 26, 1941, and raised in Montclair, he was the oldest child ofAngelo and Mildred (nee DiGeronimo) Russo.

A Dispensing Optician, Vincent was co-owner for many years of DiGeronimo Opticians in Clifton, as well as Gleek and Howard Opticians in Elizabeth from 1974-2003, when he sold the business and subsequently retired.

Vincent met his “bride,” Jane, of 56 years, when they were teenagers growing up in Montclair. They settled in Livingston in 1970, where they raised their family. His greatest joys were his 3 children and 5 grandchildren. One would find him either coaching or watching them participate in their sports and/or extracurricular activities. He especially looked forward to spending time during the summer at the shore with the entire “crew.” He was an active member of the community, as a Livingston Soccer Club Board Member/Coach; American Little League Chain Director/Coach; Cub Scout Pack 59 Committee Member; and was on Livingston’s 4th of July Committee.

He is survived by his wife Jane (nee Glaxon) Russo, sons David Russo and wife Suzanne, Michael Russo; daughter, Jennifer Nugent and husband Kevin; grandchildren Stephen Russo, Brian Russo, Elizabeth Nugent, Gregory Russo and Daniel Nugent. In addition, he is survived by his brother Richard and wife Rosemary, sister Marianne, and sister-in-law, Nancy (nee Glaxon) Harris.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. PleasantAvenue, Livingston. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Philomena Church, 396 South Livingston Avenue, Livingston on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 9:45 a.m., followed by interment at Restland Memorial Park, Eash Hanover, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, Attn: Philanthropy Department, 23 Main Street, Unit D1, Holmdel, NJ 07733, or a charity of your choice.
