Marilyn Mount, age 83, of East Hanover, formerly of Livingston and West Orange, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024 surrounded by her family at her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philomena Church in Livingston on Friday, February 9, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home.

Marilyn spent most of her youth in West Orange, graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in 1958 where she met her husband Jack. She went on to work at the Yellow Pages before engaging in a successful career working as a dental assistant and hygienist for over 20 years. She then retired to spend time with her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she loved being with her pets and was an avid sport fan, always watching her children and grandchildren’s games. She also enjoyed watching golf and football on Sunday afternoons, always finding time to watch Mass on a regular basis.

Marilyn was considered a second mom to many, always providing an open door at Sterling Drive where everyone was welcomed and so many memories were made.

She was a devoted mother and always put her children first, ensuring they were taken care of and had the foundation needed to be successful. She would never shy away from a challenge, never gave up, and always found a way to pull through, even in her last days where she continued to defy the odds. Her no quit attitude is something her children and grandchildren will carry forward in her memory.

Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Kristine Marie Wells; her parents, Kathleen and William McCarrick; loving twin brother, William McCarrick; and the father of her children John “Jack” Mount. Marilyn is survived by her devoted children, John “Jack” William Mount, Deborah Ann Brien, William Joseph Mount and his wife, Semira Kashi Mount; her loving grandchildren, Kayla, Kevin, Sophia and Olivia; and her son-in-law, Phillip Wells.
