Funeral Mass Offered For John James Clark

John James Clark Jr. of Livingston died on December 17 at the age of 81. A funeral Mass was offered at St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 20. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.farmerfuneral.com. Mr. Clark was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania, to Irish immigrants John Joseph and Clara Clark. He resident in South Orange for many years and moved to Livingston in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. A graduate of Rutgers University, he continued post-graduate studies at Seton Hall University. Mr. Clark worked at Prudential Insurance Company. He went on to serve as director of systems planning and development for the Pharmaceuticals Division of Ciba-Geigy in Summit for 36 years. In addition, he was an instructor for the Dale Carnegie Leadership course for 26 years, and later, served as a senior consultant and workshop leader for Interpersonal Technology Group, Inc. In recent years, Mr. Clark was a volunteer for the Electronic Information and Education Service (EIES) of New Jersey, a radio service for the blind. He also mentored seminarians at Seton Hall University. He was predeceased by his first wife, Joan Clark, and by his brother, Vincent. Surviving Mr. Clark are his wife of 35 years, Alison E. Clark; his children, Joanne Furlong and her husband, Ray; Mary Fiorentino and her husband, Ted; Erin Grupenhof and her husband, Bill; Michael Clark and his wife, Carol; Maureen Maisano and her husband, David; and Lindsay Clark; his siblings, Mary Clare Clark, Sally Smith, and Jerry Clark; and 15 grandchildren.
