Ruth Ellen Dunscombe, a 1969 graduate of Livingston High School, died on November 8. She was 70 years old.
Visitation will take place today, Thursday, November 12, from 1 to 5 p.m., at Lacey’s Home for Funerals in Forked River. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, November 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Pius in Forked River. Committal will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
Ms. Dunscombe was the daughter of the late William E. and Jeanette C. Dunscombe and the sister of William E. Dunscombe (Veronica) of New Providence.
While in high school she won a Betty Crocker Award for her apple crisp. She then attended Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, majoring in English.
In the early 1970s, Ms. Dunscombe moved to Forked River. She worked for over 20 years at the Ocean County Board of Social Services and then at St. Pius Church. She served as an officer of the Lacey Historical Society and the Lacey Township Garden Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ms. Dunscombe’s name may be made to Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River or any animal shelter or rescue.
