Funeral Mass Friday For Mary M. Vazquez

Former Livingston resident Mary M. Vazquez (nee Dopart) died October 11 at her home in West Caldwell. She was 65 years old. Visitation will take place today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland. A funeral Mass will be offered for her at Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland at 10 a.m., with interment to follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at farmerfuneral.com. Born in Montclair, Mrs. Vazquez was raised in Belleville and moved to Livingston before settling in West Caldwell. Prior to her retirement, she was a teacher for 20 years at Millburn Middle School, where she taught English, reading, and Holocaust studies. After retiring, she continued tutoring students in the Millburn-Short Hills area. She also served on the board for the Sister Rose Thering Endowment at Seton Hall University. Mrs. Vazquez was predeceased by her father, Stanley S. Dopart, in 1982, and her mother, Dolores M. Dopart, on September 29 of this year. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Judge Peter J. Vazquez; her children, Peter J. Vazquez Jr. and his wife, Catherine; Steven Vazquez and his wife, Alyssa; and Cynthia Murphy and her husband, Douglas; her siblings, Joseph Dopart and his wife, Evie; and Marjorie Feldman and her husband, David; her mother-in-law, Marie Vazquez; and eight grandchildren. The family has noted that donations in Mrs. Vazquez' memory may be made to the Sister Rose Thering Endowment, c/o Denis Brosnan, 457 Centre Street, South Orange, NJ 07079, with checks made out to Seton Hall University.
