Hold Memorial Service For Mark Smith, 64

Following a battle with early onset Alzheimer's disease, Mark O. Smith, 64, died on January 3. A 1969 graduate of Livingston Hgh School, Mr. Smith was graduated from Marietta College and received an M.A. from Rutgers University. He spent 20 years in state government, fi rst in the Offi ce of Legislative Services, then as research director in the New Jersey Senate Republican Office and later as deputy commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection. After leaving state government for the private sector, Mr. Smith became vice president for environmental affairs at Maser Consulting; a principal with Issues Management; and president of Smith Advocates. He then re-entered state service for a short time, returning to the Senate Republican Offi ce as executive director under co-senate president John Bennett. A memorial service was held at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association in Pennington. Mr. Smith was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Louise. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda; his daughter, Kylie; his sisters, Carolyn (Neil) and Lori (Juan); and his brothers-in-law, Michael (Kathleen) and Richard (Anna). The family has suggested that contributions in his name be made to the New Jersey Conservation Foundation, the Alzheimer's Association of Greater New Jersey, or Embracing HospiceCare in Wall Township, Monmouth County. ...
