Melvin L. Ramer

Melvin Leonard Ramer passed away on February 28, 2016 at the age of 92. Arrangements are by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton, NJ. Mel resided in Passaic all his life before moving to Union 11 years ago. During World War II, he was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Corps. He owned the Melvin L. Ramer Insurance Agency for 43 years. Mel belonged to numerous organizations, including the Knights of Pythias, for which he served as Grand Chancellor for many years. He was also active at the JCC and served on the board of the Margulies Senior Center. Predeceased by his wife, Gloria, he is survived by his daughters, Barbara Schofield and Linda Jacobs; his son-in-law, Mel Jacobs; and his grandchildren, Michael Schofield, Danielle Palmiotto, Rebecca Schofield-Cohen and Adam Cohen, Phyllis Jacobs, Mariel Jacobs and Eric Goodman. Donations may be made to the Saint Barnabas Foundation-Cardiac Program or the American Heart Association. ...
