A decision to select the power supplier for Livingston through energy aggregation, a move that Township Council members hoped to make to save residents money and use more renewable energy, will have to wait at least a few more months. After reviewing proposals from both Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), which would offer the township no additional savings, and Public Service Enterprise Group (PSE&G), which offered little savings, the Council decided to accept neither of them at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
The Council had resolutions prepared to award contracts to either JCP&L or PSE&G depending on what the proposals had said. There was a third resolution prepared to reject both of them and put out another bid in a few months in the hopes of receiving a more favorable proposal. That final resolution was the one that passed Tuesday evening.
