Back when the world was a kinder and gentler place, Livingston's volunteer firemen – and in those days there were no females in the department – raised funds annually by having a block dance at the Northfield Fire House. Although there was no face painting, Moonwalk, or loud music provided by a DJ – all activities which seem to be de regueur for a community event now – there was square dancing to the calling of Idaho Ed and his band. It was a fine community event, attended by a large number of Livingston residents and supported economically by an even larger number.
