Speaking of saving lives, on August 25, the Livingston Public Library sponsored its semi-annual blood drive in conjunction with the Blood Center of New Jersey. The drive was held in an effort to meet the community’s increasing need for blood, as the Center is operating on a one-day supply. All types are needed. Did you know that each unit of blood donated is broken down into components including platelets, plasma and red cells? Did you know that a single donation can help save the lives of up to three people? Did you know that 16-year-olds, with parental/ guardian consent, can donate blood in the state of New Jersey?
