Dr. William Papanestor Succumbs in Livingston

Dr. William Papanestor, 91, died Wednesday, January 21, at St. Barnabas Medical Center. Born in New York City, Dr. Papanestor lived in Maplewood before moving to Livingston. He was a World War II Army veteran who fought alongside General George S. Patton and was one of his bodyguards. Dr. Papanestor was an industrial psychologist for Lever Brothers in New York City, retiring after 30 years. He is survived by three sons, Peter W. and his wife, Maryann, of Somersworth, New Hampshire; William and his wife, Debra of Vernon; and Paul of Milford, Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren. The son of the late Peter and Mary (nee Chloroffa) Papanestor, Dr. Papanestor was also predeceased by his wife, Gertrude "Trudy" Papanestor, on December 13, 2013.
