Sophie Erma (Young) Barnes of Tarpon Springs, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in her home at The Allegro, Tarpon Springs, Florida. She was 92. Born on the family farm in Milford, New Jersey, on August 2, 1922, Sophie was the daughter of the late Louis and Theresa (Gutwein) Young. She was a member of the 1940 graduating class of Frenchtown High School in New Jersey. Sophie was a real estate agent for over 30 years with the Frank Bedford Company in Livingston, New Jersey, where she lived and raised her family before moving to Florida. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Earl Nathaniel Barnes; her brother Florian Young of Milford, NJ, and her sister, Elizabeth C. Young, Milford, NJ. Surviving are her loving children, Charlotte Jean Barnes Sidell, daughter, and her husband, Richard Stevenson Sidell of Needham, MA; son, Douglas Earl Barnes and his wife, Linda Ross Barnes, of Lake Ann, MI; two grandchildren, Philip Stevenson Sidell and his wife, Christina Lamb Sidell, of Hinesberg, VT and Katharine Young Sidell and her husband, Andrew Peter Morton, of Holliston, MA; three great-grandchildren, Margaret Ruth Morton, Jane Elizabeth Morton, and Quinn Stevenson Lamb Sidell; a brother, Frederick L. Young and his wife, Shirley Young of La Feria, TX; a niece, Leone Pekarske, of St. Joseph, MO, and her children, Colin Thomas Young and John Pekarske; a nephew, Todd Young and his wife, Lesley Young, of Fort Mill, SC, as well as their children, Olivia Young and her namesake, Sophie Young. Sophie also leaves a brotherin- law, Durwood Barnes and his wife, Carolyn Barnes of Ft. Worth, TX. She leaves many cousins and their families, many dear long time friends, as well as friends and staff at the Allegro where she lived. She was loved and admired by all that knew her for her sweet and loving nature and her generous spirit. A Celebration of Sophie's life will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at The Allegro, 1755 East Lake Road, Tarpon Springs, FL.
