William P. Payne, 63, died on Saturday, May 9, at Care One of Livingston. The Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life was offered at St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston on Wednesday, May 13. Born in Havana, Cuba, Mr. Payne had lived in Belleville before moving to Livingston 26 years ago. He received his sociology degree from Jersey City State University and retired in 2013 as a circulation manager for the Star Ledger after 25 years. He was a Little League coach in Livingston throughout his sons' little league years. Mr. Payne is survived by his wife, Michele; and his two sons, William M. (and his wife Vikki) and Michael B. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
