Yvonne Min-Fen Li, M.D., died in her Livingston home on January 10. Visitations and viewing will take place at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral home of Livingston, 145 East Mt. Pleasant Avenue, on Friday, January 15, from 3 to 8 p.m. Services will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, January 16, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield. Dr. Li was born in Shanghai, China on January 23, 1941. She moved to Hong Kong in 1958, and later attended the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas on a full scholarship. She then completed her master's degree in biochemistry at Iowa State University. After working for nearly ten years in the pharmaceutical industry, she went attended medical school at the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay in Manila, Philippines. She then returned and settled in New Jersey to complete her internal medicine residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and an and oncology fellowship at Newark Beth Israel. She maintained a practice in South Orange, Millburn, and Livingston. Predeceased by husband, Hsien “James” Li, in, 2009, Dr. Li is survived by her children, Alexander, James and Frederick; seven siblings; and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made under Yvonne Li’s name to the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Foundation, 21 Lyons Avenue, Newark, NJ 07112.
