Funeral Mass Today For Thomas D'Altrui

Thomas N. D'Altrui, 96, of Livingston, died on Friday, January 29. The Funeral Mass will be offered today, Thursday, February 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Philomena's Church, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Arrangements are by the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home. Mr. D'Altrui was born in Villaricca, Italy, and raised in Newark. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in Europe and was the owner of D'Altrui Industries in Elizabeth for 48 years. A pioneer of harness racing in New Jersey, Mr. D'Altrui created DI Farms in Hillsborough, and was director of the Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association of New Jersey, Harness Horse International, and the United States Trotting Association for many years. He also served on the advisory board of the Summit Trust Co. and was elected to the South Jersey Hall of Fame in 2006. Mr. D'Altrui is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra (Koster); his son, Thomas (Cheryl); stepsons, Michael (Theresa) and Steven (Kirk); four grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren; and sister, Carmela Santaniello. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Minnie (Danna), and their daughter, Marianne. Donations may be made to The Arc of Somerset County, 141 S.
