Icing Conditions Cause Multi-Vehicle Pile-Up On Both Sides of East Northfield Road

Livingston police officers and other emergency personnel were kept busy on Monday and Tuesday when a day of snow and a night of freezing rain left roadways slick and dangerous. Several motor vehicle accidents were reported across the township, including a multi-vehicle pile-up on East Northfield Road, a car into a house on East Cedar Street, and an overturned vehicle on South Orange Avenue. At 6:22 a.m. on Tuesday morning, Joseph M. Urcinoli was traveling west on East Northfi eld Road when he lost control of his Chevrolet Express box truck due to the icy road conditions. His vehicle crossed over the curbed median, striking multiple cars that were traveling eastbound, including that of Livingston resident Mary Bridges and Bloomfield resident Judy A.
