Following the massacre that occurred on Sunday morning in Florida, it was a coincidence that the Livingston Town Council's June 13 agenda featured the presentation of a proclamation naming June 2 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Another coincidence is that next Thursday, June 23, the Livingston Diversity Committee will hold its first LGBT flag raising at the Memorial Park Oval. With the mass shooting that was carried out in the wee hours of Sunday morning in a gay nightclub in Orlando, these township agenda and calendar items took on a new significance.
