At its conference meeting this week, the Livingston Township Council discussed an issue that has arisen with the installation of a new, much-needed traffic light at the corner of East Northfield Road and Chestnut Street. The project was given the “green light” by the Township and Essex County last year following numerous accidents at the location, and at the urging of residents who implored officials to make the roadway safer. The details were worked out and the County agreed to lead the project, while picking up two thirds of the tab. Livingston would pay the final third. A win-win.
