Rita Marinello, 94 Dies at Home Dec. 17

Rita C. (Wade) Marinello of Livingston, formerly of Bloomfield and Elizabeth, died at home on December 17. She was 94 years old. Visitation will take place at the Leonardis Memorial Home in Florham Park today, Thursday, December 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 23, at 10 a.m., followed by a Mass at St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Mrs. Marinello was director of nutritional services for the American Red Cross, Newark Chapter, from 1944 to 1948, and later taught in several grade schools for the Archdiocese of Newark before retiring. She also taught CCD. She served as national president for the College of St. Elizabeth Alumnae Association, class of 1944. Mrs. Marinello was a member of the Glee Club at Battin High School; the choir of Our Lady of All Souls in East Orange; and the Legion of Mary at St. Philomena’s Church. She was the wife of the late James N. Marinello; the mother of Anthony Marinello and his wife, Mary Ann; Catherine Politi and her late husband, Jay; Rita Gesualdo and her late husband, Hector; Mary DeBlasio; and Jim Marinello and his wife, Susan. Mrs. Marinello is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. ...
