Sebastian J. Messina of Roseland, formerly of Livingston, died Tuesday, April 25, at the Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice in Newton.He was 86 years old. Funeral arrangements were by LaMonica Memorial Home of Livingston. Born and raised in Bloomfield, where he lived for many years, Mr. Messina moved to Livingston in 2002, and then to Roseland in 2010. He was a professor of photography at Middlesex County College in Raritan for 25 years, retiring many years ago. He served in the Marines during the Korean War, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3533 and the Old Guard, both in Livingston. He is survived by his children, Joseph Jay and his wife, MaryAnn; Bruce Allen and his wife, Carol; Sebastian Jr. and his wife, Lynn; and Jaime Marie Messina; his sister, Mary Sole; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that donations be made to the U.S. Marine Corps’ Wounded Warriors.
