Michael Fitzpatrick, 37, of Glen Ridge, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Mountainside Hospital. Funeral services were held at the O’Boyle Funeral Home of Bloomfield on Wednesday, May 24, followed by the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, East Hanover. Interment took place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Please express condolences at oboylefuneralhome.com. A third generation Livingstonite, Michael was born in Livingston and lived most of his life here before moving to Glen Ridge seven years ago. In middle school, he became part of a wonderful group of kids while playing with the Livingston Lightning traveling soccer team. In high school, he really began to pursue his love of music and art. During his college years at UMass Amherst, he formed a band called Tuscan Groove, which opened for the group Cypress Hill when it gave a concert at the university. After college, Michael continued playing gigs in Greenwich Village. After graduating from UMass Amherst, he worked in sales and recruiting, most recently for System One Holdings in Edison. In addition to being an avid musician, he was a diehard Mets and Jets fan. Michael selflessly gave the gift of life to many others through the NJ Sharing Network. The family has already been notifi ed that his heart has been donated, and that two people will receive the gift of sight because of his wife’s decision to donate his organs. Michael was the husband of Heather Longden Fitzpatrick; the son of Eugene Fitzpatrick and Catherine Monaghan Fitzpatrick; the stepson of Cindylu Pierce; the son-in-law of Albert and Mary Roche Longden; and the brother-in-law of Ryan and John Longden. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as many friends. For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Music Department at UMass Amherst. ...
