Ronald M. Sturtz

Ronald M. Sturtz, 86, an extraordinarily loving and devoted, husband, father and grandfather, of Livingston, New Jersey, died on Thursday, May 25, 2017, following a fight with Alzheimer’s disease. Bernice, his wife of more than 64 years, was by his side. Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 28 at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston. Ron was born and raised in Bayonne, New Jersey. He graduated from Tulane University and the Washington College of Law at American University. Ron loved the law. He spent more 50 years representing clients with zest and zeal, most notably as a partner for almost four decades with Hannoch Weisman of Roseland. A strong proponent of arbitration to settle disputes, he worked tirelessly to draft and enact appropriate statutes to promote arbitration in commercial disputes in the state. For more than 25 years, he was an enthusiastic first aider with the National Ski Patrol and served as its Eastern Region Legal Advisor. Ron enjoyed a rich and full life with Bernice and relished every second with his daughters and their families. He and Bernice spent many happy and adventurous days on vacations with them all, and boasted to everyone about their accomplishments. His children and grandchildren have only the best of memories of Pa. In addition to Bernice, surviving are his daughters Judy (Chevy Chase, MD) and Bonnie (Lansdale, PA) and their husbands, Phil and Len; and his sister, Barbara (Livingston) and brother-in-law, Howard. Also carrying on his legacy will be his beloved grandchildren: Alyssa and her husband, Mark; Shana; Jennifer; and Matthew. He is also survived by his nieces, Diane, Lori and Debbie; great-niece Sydney; great-nephews, Jared and Alex; and dozens of cousins. Donations in Ron’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th floor, New York, NY 10001; or online at alzfdn.org. ...
