Support Our Firefighters

Livingston residents and businesses received a letter this week asking for financial support for our Fire Department. The Livingston Fire Department has been serving the township since 1921. The year 2017 will mark the 96th anniversary of the all-volunteer Department providing service to Livingston. It is closing in on a century of protecting the lives and property of Livingston residents. What many residents may not know is that the Livingston Fire Department is an all-volunteer squad. These firefighters are your friends and neighbors who donate their time to ensuring public safety. The more than 65 unpaid volunteer firefighters and three volunteer deputy chiefs are led by a full-time fire chief and an assistant chief. They are on call 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, to provide fire protection and other emergency services to their neighbors. Each week in the pages of our newspaper, our readers can see how these hard-working men and women come to the aid of their neighbors on a daily basis. The selfless – and often dangerous – work that they do has been front page news in the West Essex Tribune for the last two weeks. They extinguished a house fire on Wingate Drive, minimizing personal and financial loss for the homeowners. As you can see in the photos on the front of this week's edition, they recently responded to a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. These are the situations our volunteers handle when they are called upon to do so.   To read more please log in or subscribe to the digital edition http://www.etypeservices.com/West%20Essex%20TribuneID480/ ...
