Funeral Services Held For Cantor Korbman

Cantor Jack Korbman, 81, died on October 18 in his home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Born in Newark, he had lived in Livingston for 34 years. Cantor Korbman was a teacher and administrator in the Newark public schools for 34 years. He had also served as cantor at Congregation Adath Shalom in Morris Plains for 30 years and, earlier, at Congregation AABC in Irvington for 20 years. He earned a B.A. in education from Upsala College and an M.A. in education from Seton Hall University. He was a member of the Weequahic Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons. Surviving are his wife, Barbara (neé Kopf); his sons, Jeffrey Korbman and his wife, Dana; Barry Korbman and his wife, Melinda; and Mark Jiorle and his wife, Amy; and his brother, Harry Korbman. He is also survived by six grandchildren and his sister-in-law, Mildred Korbman. Cantor Korbman was predeceased by his brother, Rabbi Meyer Korbman. Funeral services were held at Congregation Adath Shalom in Morris Plains. The family has suggested that donations in his memory be made to the Congregation Adath Shalom Youth Fund or the NCSY Summer Programs. ...
