Miriam Frances Bresin, (nee Reilly) of Livingston, New Jersey, died on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 after a brief illness and with family by her side at Inglemoor in Livingston. She was 96 years old. Born in Montclair, New Jersey, to Edward M. and Frances Reilly, “Mim” grew up in Montclair and Verona. She was graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1939. Mim was employed by L. Bamberger & Company in Newark, New Jersey, in the Cosmetics Department when she met Irving Bresin, who was working in the Furniture Department; they were married in 1944. They lived in Irvington and Union, New Jersey before moving to Livingston in 1952. They were married for 37 years until Irving died in 1981. In earlier years, Mim enjoyed bowling in the Livingston Ladies Leagues, gardening, and ice skating. Later she liked playing bingo, reading, doing puzzle books, watching television and just being at her home in Livingston. She was proud of living in the same house for 65 years. Most of all, Mim enjoyed being a dedicated mother of her three sons. She was devastated in recent years by the loss of her younger sons, Bruce (2013) and Richard (2015). Mim also suffered the loss of her beloved older sister, Jean M. Lowe, earlier this year. Mrs. Bresin is survived by her oldest son, Robert A. Bresin and his wife, Kathleen D. Bresin of Cedar Grove and Avon by the Sea, New Jersey. They spent the last several years at Mim’s home devoted to her care. She is also survived by Stephanie Gottdenker Briceno, a cherished and devoted family friend. They spent many days and countless hours visiting, playing cards and Scrabble and enjoying the company of Stephanie’s young daughter. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Saint Barnabas Cancer Center (www.barnabashealth.org) in Livingston, New Jersey in Miriam’s memory would be greatly appreciated. Private services were held at the Prout Funeral Home, (www.proutfuneralhome.com), Verona, New Jersey. ...
