Livingston Resident Since 1979 Andre J. LeGuen (Andy) 71, died peacefully at Saint Barnabas Medical Center on November 2, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Newark, Andy grew up in Irvington, enjoying many fun summers at Cook’s Pond. Although Andy began his career as a computer programmer, he was also passionate about art and all phases of design. Ultimately, he focused on design and established Andre Design Inc. in Millburn, New Jersey. As president and general manager, he designed and oversaw the creation of custom pieces of jewelry for private clients and events. Seeking new challenges in design, Andy sold his business and became an AutoCAD, web and graphic designer. In 1997, Andy joined Training Inc. at Essex County College as an instructor in desktop publishing, layout and design, math, and tutor in AutoCad. Andy was able share his love of design and contribute to the success of many students. His time working with Training Inc. and all of the students was the most meaningful of his career. A talented scenic painter, Andy was an avid fan of the Giants and NASCAR who enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Ocean City, Maryland and at home in Livingston. Andy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ann; his sister, JoAnn Luciano and her husband, James, of Mount Tabor; his brother-in-law, William Best of Indiana; his nieces, Susan McGowan and Diana Vilcek; his nephews, James and Damon Luciano, and David Best. Private arrangements were made through Quinn Hopping Funeral Home. The family is planning a celebration of Andy’s life to be scheduled for some time in the near future. In honor of Andy’s passion and commitment to life-long learning, the family has established a scholarship in his name, Andre J. LeGuen, at Essex County College. If you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, donations may be made payable to Essex County College Training, Inc., and mailed to Essex County College, 303 University Avenue, Newark, NJ 07102. ...
