Kathleen “Kathy” (neé Marano) Saratella, 68, died on Monday, February 5, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. She was born in Aberdeen, Washington, grew up in the Ironbound section of Newark, and lived in Harrison before moving to Livingston in 1990. Mrs. Saratella taught at Hawkins Street School in Newark for 35 years, retiring in 2003. She was the wife of Carl Victor Saratella; the daughter of Albert Marano and the late Joan (neé Rizzo); the mother of Victor Saratella of Needham, Massachusetts and Carla Michele Saratella; the sister of the late Karen Cifuentes and her husband, Renato; the sister-in-law of Rose Teixeira and her husband, Mario; and the grandmother of four. A Funeral Mass was held on February 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Newark.
