Helene Purcell

Helene Purcell passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 in Livingston. Mrs. Purcell was a Business Teacher at Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Teacher’s Association; the past President of the Essex Dove No. 251, the Benevolent Order of Does; Membership Vice-President of the Livingston Chapter of the American Association of University Women; President of the Livingston Ladies Bowling Team; and Vice-President and Treasurer of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus in Livingston. She was also Program Chairperson for the Livingston Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). Helene was married to the late William Purcell, Jr., and they lived in Livingston for 51 years. She is survived by several nieces and nephews: Charles J. Barbaz, Jr., and his wife, Clara, Jean Kulpa, Carol Binkowski, William Barbaz, Charles Barbaz, and Richard Purcell. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5, 2018, from 9-10:15 a.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Livingston. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philomena Church, Livingston. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. ...
