Sylvia Pauline Ivkovich

Sylvia Pauline Ivkovich (née Bonvini), who lived nearly her entire life in Livingston, passed away in Saint Barnabas Medical Center on Monday, March 19. She was 81 years old. Sylvia was born in Orange in 1936, and moved to Livingston in the early 1940s. She was a 1954 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Caldwell. After graduating from high school, she worked at Bonvini’s, her family’s pizzeria in Livingston, until the mid 1980s. After she left the restaurant business, she was employed at her husband’s company, Cooperative Inventory Service. She retired in the early 2000s. Sylvia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and had recently become a greatgrandmother. Always quick with her witty sense of humor, she was happy to share family recipes with friends and neighbors, and opened her home over the years to her children’s friends and neighbors with many pasta and pizza requests. She delighted in sharing her recipes with her granddaughter, showing her how to make good pizza, lasagna and bread. Sylvia was predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles; her parents, Nicola and Bruna Bonvini; and her siblings, Norma, Silvio (her fraternal twin), Nicholas, and Rosemarie. She is survived by her son, Nicholas and his wife, Kristy; her daughter, Jennifer; her daughter, Valerie and her companion, Richard Murphy; her brother, Guerrino and his wife, Pat; her granddaughter, Dr. Ashley Heaney and her husband, Dr. Ryan Heaney; her great-grandson, Connor Ryan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were private. ...
