Anthony “Dick” Battista, 78, of Livingston passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Paul Ippolito- Dancy Memorial, 9 Smull Avenue, Caldwell, New Jersey on Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 3 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Philomena’s Church, Livingston, New Jersey on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 10 a.m., followed by the burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey. For directions or to send the family condolences, please visit www.ippolitofuneralhomes.com. Born in Orange, New Jersey, Mr. Battista was a resident of Livingston for most of his life. He also enjoyed spending time in his Fort Lauderdale, Florida, home during the winter, and his Goshen, New York, home during the summer. He was employed by the Regional Automotive Warehouse in Newark for 40 years before retiring as president several years ago. Mr. Battista served as president of the Mid-Jersey Automotive Jobber’s Association Inc., in 1974; was a recipient of the Automotive Boosters Club “Man of the Year” Award in 1988; and was an inductee of the Automotive Hall of Fame in Midland, Michigan. Active in the community, he was a member of the Orange Essex Civic League, for which he served as president from 1973 to 1974. He was named the Orange Elks “Man of the Year” in 1982, as well as the Italian American Police Society of New Jersey “Business Man of the Year” in 1995. The beloved husband of 56 years to Barbara (nee Zullo), he was the devoted father of Michele Carracino and her husband, Anthony; Renee Pipitone and her husband, Anthony; and Nicole Battista; the dear brother of Anne Dambach and her husband, Ken; Josephine Bocchino; and the late Dolores Lombardino; and cherished Poppy of Anthony, Alexandra, Adriana and Anthony. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and close friends.
