Toiletries, Cosmetics Donations Volume “Outstanding”

Livingston’s response to Living-ston Philanthropies’ request for small size toiletries and new cosmetics has been “outstanding,” according to Jeff Friedman, founder and director of the charitable organization. The donations are continually made into gift bags for the poor, homeless and disenfranchised, in keeping with the non-profit’s mission statement. Livingston Philanthropies is collecting new, small size toiletries and cosmetics. “Donations of hotel/travel sized shampoo, conditioner, soap, tooth brushes, tooth paste, mouth wash, deodorant, razors, cotton swabs, body wash, lotion, and baby diapers in sizes 4, 5, and 6, and more are badly needed right now” Friedman said. In addition, Livingston Philanthropies is seeking donations of new, unopened cosmetics, including make-up, make up bags, lipstick, powder, lotion, nail polish, scents and similar items. “Unopened gift sets – perhaps holiday leftovers, are especially appreciated by those living below the poverty line in nearby communities. And, how about those free make-up samples and bags one receives when purchasing certain cosmetic products? They are literally gold for those girls and women who don’t have financial access to these kind of products,” Friedman said. “Remember, one cannot practice good personal hygiene without personal hygiene products.” Donations may be dropped at the West Essex Tribune, located at 495 South Livingston Avenue, next to ShopRite. Donations may also be left at Ascend Physical Therapy in Montclair; and at the chiropractic offices of Dr. Gary Hecht in Springfield. Those unable to drop donations at the Livingston Philanthropies’ drop-off points may e-mail Friedman at jftv1@verizon.net for private pick-up.   Photo: Creating new toiletries gift bags with donations from generous Livingston residents are Will and Ella Lombardo, grandchildren of Livingston Philanthropies volunteer Joyce Friedman and great-nephew and great-niece of Philanthropies founder Jeff “The Coat Guy” Friedman. “Folks on the food line at St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark will be the direct recipients of the nicely packaged bags,” said the Coat Guy. “Thank you, Livingston!” ...
